Urgent call for officials:  Daryl Tunbridge Trial and Steve Richards Memorial R4S Novice Trial

BLCC will be hosting Round 2 of the Victorian Club Rally Series on Saturday 20 May – a little over two weeks away.  Our “grass roots” event will be based at the Talbot Recreation Reserve and comprises 5 stages that will be run twice, once as a navigational challenge, then route charted.  But it requires 55 officials to spend that evening in the forest, including 29 Road Closures and 4 Passage Controls, as well as a Stage Commander, Start Control and Finish Control for each stage.  The organising team would also appreciate several hands with event preparation, eg admin; equipment distribution; forest setups.

We expect to have everyone packed up by 12:30am...

Letter from CAMS CEO Eugene Arocca

March 25, 2017

Dear CAMS officials,
We have received a number of enquiries from concerned CAMS accredited officials seeking clarification of insurance, legal and related issues when CAMS licenced officials participate in non-CAMS events. To assist in understanding the consequences we wish to remind our officials of the following:

Insurance Coverage
CAMS provides extensive insurance cover for accredited officials, however it is important to note that this only applies when officiating at CAMS sanctioned events. CAMS Personal Accident and Liability insurance cover does not extend to non-CAMS events.

CAMS has provided insurance and legal protection for officials participating in CAMS sanctioned events for more than 60 years and has a strong track record of offering relevant and accurate legal advice as we...

March 25, 2017

Ballarat local Arron Windus and co-driver Steve Fisher won the opening round of the Focus on Furniture Victorian Rally Championship in a Subaru Impreza WRX at the Eureka Rally.

Arron Windus took the VRC win after a consistent drive. (Photo: Craig O’Brien)The finished 19 seconds clear of Glen Raymond and Kate Catford in another Subaru.

Kicking off the season with a two-day event, Brendan Reeves, with co-driver Ben Searcy (Subaru), took the early advantage, winning all four morning stages to open up a 37.2 second lead over Glen Raymond/Kate Catford (Subaru), with Windus/Fisher a further 25 seconds adrift.

Following the first service break, Reeves continued to stretch ahead, before running out of brakes on SS8 and retiring from the heat.

Raymond’s lead inheritance would be short lived when a ...

Thank You To All Eureka Officials and Winners Announced For Officials Lucky Draw

March 25, 2017

C of C message to officials
Thank you for your valuable contribution to what we can now say has been a clearly successful first up ARC Eureka Rally.  We had no need to send in the Medical Intervention Vehicles to any rally cars stopped on stages.  We had no reports of breached stage security.  These aspects were a great relief to the organising team.  Competitors were very pleased with the selected course and the event organisation.

Apologies for the dust out there, but the mild weather was unusually kind to us for March in Ballarat, and did the make the weekend more enjoyable for all.

Congratulations to the lucky winners of the officials prize draws.

I look forward to your continued assistance with mounting an even better Eureka Rally in 2018.

Ross Runnalls.

Clerk of Course
