Touring Road Events (TRE)

Winter Classic Rally & Tour 2007If dirt isn't’ your scene then this alternative might just be for you. Called Touring Road Events or TRE’s as we know them, is exactly what the title says.

If touring around the countryside in your favorite vehicle is your idea of competition then this could well be for you. Like other road events this relies on equal efforts from the Driver, Navigator, and the vehicle, all working together to succeed but without the pressure of timed stages. Yes there is a time limit but the emphasis is on finding the correct intended route and not how fast you can negotiate it.

Winter Classic Rally & Tour 2007The Driver is the eyes of the crew, the Navigator is the driving force behind the team and reading a map is a must, particularly old maps, (Broadbents). And oh yeah, the car must be sound and able to keep running.

The BLCC has a tradition of running a TRE called The Winter Classic Rally and Tour.  Based on the Dutton Type Rallies of past, this event has several sub events thrown in it so as to keep both parties well catered for.

Winter Classic Rally & Tour 2007It is run over 3 days commencing Friday evening with some driving tests (usually the Ballarat Showgrounds), followed by next day with the touring part, map reading in the morning, then more driving tests after lunch. Sunday is similar finishing with presentations on Sunday evening. It is a very well balanced event and a must do for anyone’s motorsport calendar. Check out the Web page for more details.
